No Taxpayer Abortion

Posted on April 14, 2021 in: General News

The Hyde Amendment and other similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding elective abortion since 1976. Now, some lawmakers and others in Washington want to take away these laws, which have had broad public and bi-partisan support for nearly 50 years. Without the Hyde Amendment, healthcare funding paid for with taxpayer dollars could go to abortion. To respond to the push to eliminate Hyde, the USCCB is asking parishes and dioceses across the country to take part in the "No Taxpayer Abortion" campaign. As we take part in the Midwest March for Life this week, let us urge Congress to keep the Hyde Amendment.
